No-Bake Cookies and Cream Cheesecake

A good cookies and cream cheesecake is like a good Sunday nap. You can live without it... but why would you ever want to?

Well, this cookies and cream cheesecake is a fantastic blend of the Oreos we all know and love, plus the creamy texture of a delicious cheesecake. The best part is that this recipe is "no-bake" which means no oven required. It is a perfect answer to dessert on a hot summer night!

Delicious Cookie

Just pop this no-bake cookies and cream cheesecake into the fridge and soon you'll be ready to enjoy it!

INGREDIENTS:

24 chocolate sandwich cookies (Oreos), finely crumbled, about 2 cups

6 tablespoons margarine, room temperature

1 envelope unflavored gelatin

1/4 cup cold water

8 oz cream cheese, softened

1/2 cup sugar

3/4 cup milk

1 cup heavy cream, whipped

Coarsely crumbled chocolate sandwich cookies (Oreos), about 1 to 1 1/2 cups

DIRECTIONS:

1) Combine fine cookie crumbs and soft margarine; press into bottom of 9-inch springform pan. In a saucepan, soften gelatin in cold water; stir over low heat until dissolved. In a mixing bowl, combine cream cheese and sugar, mixing at medium speed of an electric hand-held mixer until well blended. Gradually add gelatin mixture and milk, mixing until well blended.

2) Chill until mixture is thickened but not set; fold in whipped cream. Reserve 1 1/2 cup cream cheese mixture; pour remaining cream cheese mixture over crust. Top with coarsely crumbled cookies then remaining cream cheese mixture. Chill until firm.

Once your simple cheesecake is complete, it is only a matter of time before it firms up and you can eat it. Although it may seem like a tedious and time-consuming task; in the end you will actually still save the time it would have taken to bake the cheesecake in the oven.

This cookies and cream cheesecake recipe is no-bake but all flavor!

Delicious Desserts

A "Dessert" is a meal course that usually comes after dinner. Most often Dessert foods are of sweet food but can also be of a strongly flavored food, such as cheese, like cheese cake. The world dessert comes from the Old French word "desservir", which means 'to clear the table'. Often times in the English language dessert is confused with the word desert(note only one "s"), which is a baren peice of land normally with sand as soil.

It wasn't until after the 19th-century where the rise of the middle class, and the mechanization of the sugar industry, brought the privilege of sweets into the general public and unreserved it exclusively for the aristocracy, or as rare holiday treat. This was because sugar became cheaper and more readily available to the general public. As sugar was widely spread, so was the development and popularity of desserts.

Delicious

In today's culture dessert recipes [http://www.dessert-1.com] have become a popular item for discussion, as they are a winning way to win people over at the end of any meal. This is partly because if you serve a mediocre meal, with an excellent dessert, people will remember you for the dessert and forget about the meal.

Most cultures, have a seperate final distinction between the main course, and the sweet course. This is not true however in some cultures such as Chinese, who will mix in sweet and savoury dishes throughout the entire meal. Dessert is, often times seen as a separate meal or snack, rather than a course, and can be eaten some time after the meal by many individuals. Because of it's wide spread popularity there are even some restaurants that specialize in desserts.

Some of the most common desserts are:

- Biscuits or cookies

- Ice creams

- Meringues

- Fruit

- Cakes

- Crumbles

- Custards

- Gelatin desserts

- Puddings

- Pastries

- Pies or tarts

Take A New Look At Sugar Cookie Recipes

The only kind of recipe that may be more common than peanut butter is sugar cookie recipes. Sugar cookies are the ultimate "simple sweet," without much flavor of their own other than the sugar and a light, pleasing texture that makes it possible to munch them by the handful.

During holiday time, when everyone's cookie factories crank up in their home kitchens, sugar cookies are turned out by the tens of dozens. Because the dough is so simple to make, large batches are usually prepared at once and kept refrigerated until it's time to dish them onto the baking sheet. Some people even make the dough weeks ahead of time and freeze it until it's time to bake, although the results from that can be mixed.

Delicious Cookie

This year, before holiday time, do a little experimenting. Sugar cookie dough is cheap to make, so you won't be risking any major investment doing so.

First off, try some flavorings. Almond extract is a great flavor to try, just a teaspoon or so per batch. For an extra special touch, place a slice of almond on top of each cookie right when they come out of the oven, while the top of the cookie is still hot and a little bit sticky.

Vanilla is a classic flavor, as is lemon. In fact, many sugar cookie recipes have lemon or vanilla extracts already listed as ingredients. For a change of pace, try amaretto, peppermint or any other extract you'd like to explore. The only limit is your imagination.

Add-ins are another great way to explore. Be careful here, though. Sugar cookie dough isn't as durable as chocolate chip cookie dough, so you can't cram in quite the volume of extras you would normally. But that's fine, as you want the flavor of the cookie to come through with your addition. Try chopping up dried or candied fruits to add flavor and color. A little ground or chopped almond, pecan or walnut is also a great choice. Again, your options are as varied as your creativity can make them. Don't be afraid to explore!

Delicious Wedding Dessert Buffets

Every wedding deserves a sweet ending. Instead of ending your reception with a boring old cup of coffee, why not have a dessert buffet? It is a very hot trend, and with good reason - guests love it!

I once attended a wedding that featured a dessert buffet. The couple had the classic wedding cake, with the special moment when the bride and groom cut the cake. A little while later, the doors were opened to an adjacent room, and a magical dessert fairyland appeared before our very eyes (if you didn't guess, I have a serious sweet tooth!). It was an incredible surprise and it definitely wowed the guests.

Delicious Cookie

So, what should you include in your dessert buffet? Well, the options are almost endless; it depends primarily on your budget and space. If you have a relatively small area for the buffet, put out a collection of beautiful little treats. Options could include petit fours, iced sugar cookies (with your monogram, of course), and clear glass cylinders filled with candies. The personalized M&Ms are really cute, and you could also have other favorites like red licorice twists and gummy bears. You can also use the display as your wedding favor by putting out pretty little bags for guests to fill with candy and take home. Make the bags special by adding a sticker that says something like, "Thank you for coming to our wedding. Enjoy a sweet treat for later. Love, Susie and Mark".

Some couples decide to do the dessert bar in a very big way. A great way to do it is to have stations like people do for the meal. Have one with a variety of cookies, one with the candies, and so on. Other tasty treats you can include are brownies, cupcakes, truffles, and seasonal pies. Chocolate dipped strawberries are always an excellent idea. When deciding on your desserts, think about what sweets go well with coffee or champagne, which is what your guests will likely be drinking.

Speaking of drinks, it is a great idea to set up a mini bar station next to the dessert buffet. Serve up fresh cappuccino and espresso, along with regular coffee and decaf. Offer guests liqueurs, such as Bailey's Irish crème or Kaluha to spice up their drinks. Next to the coffee station, you can set out trays of champagne, because it does go so well with those chocolate covered strawberries - yum!

To make your dessert buffet truly impressive, add specialty stations like a funnel cake machine, an ice cream sundae bar, fresh candy apples, and everyone's favorite, the chocolate fountain. For those who do not crave sweets (do they exist?), hire a popcorn cart. Your guests will be in heaven!

You will want to coordinate the dessert buffet with the rest of your wedding, especially if it is in a separate room. For instance, at the wedding I attended, the bride wore crystal bridal jewelry, so she had white and silver centerpieces dripping with Swarovski crystal briolettes on the dinner tables and in the dessert room. It was a fabulous effect, and tying the décor to her crystal bridal jewelry made the whole wedding look very pulled together. If you do not have the budget to decorate another space, you could consider having servers bring around carts with desserts instead of setting up another display.

Everyone wants their wedding to be memorable and unique. One way to ensure that is to end it on a high note. Surprising your guests with a decadent dessert buffet is an excellent way to end a festive celebration and thank them for coming. It will make your wedding one that they never forget.

Filipino Recipes for a Delicious Dessert

Filipino food is a diverse style of cuisine, drawing both on its traditional Asian roots and the more modern Western influences. Filipino food often provides contrasting flavours, mixing the sweet with the salty, so we're going to take a look at a couple of recipes for desserts, Filipino style, to see if this even applies to their puddings!

First up is some simple ice cream, Filipino style:

Delicious

Mango Ice Cream

Ingredients

1.5 pounds of fresh mango pulp
7 ounces of sugar
3 tbsp of mango nectar
250ml cream

Start by processing the mango into a puree, and then add in the sugar and nectar, stirring the mixture until it's all dissolved. Whip the cream into a bowl into stiff peaks, mixing with the mango, and place in a tart mould, covered and placed in the freezer for a couple of hours.

Pour the mix into a bowl and whip it into a fine paste. Add to the mould, cover and freeze, then remove the ice cream 15 minutes before serving up.

Well, ice cream is all well and good, but for something more interesting, how about bibingka, a coconut rice dessert?

Ingredients

2 and 1/2 pounds of mochi rice
400ml coconut milk
1 pound of brown sugar
Banana leaves

Start off by cooking the rice in a pan as normal, and after 10-12 minutes add in the coconut milk and one and a quarter cups of brown sugar. Cook it over a medium flame, stirring constantly, for 20 minutes, until it thickens up.

Line a baking tray with the banana leaves and preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Put the cooked rice in a large bowl, stirring the rice and spreading the brown sugar on and throughout the hot rice evenly.

Place the preparation in a deep dish to mould it, then cover with half a cup of the remaining coconut milk. Bake it for 20 minutes, and then place under the grill for 5 minutes. This will give you one large dessert, chop them into individual pieces, and you should get 4 or more servings.

Easy Chocolate Dessert Recipe

Chocolate is one of the oldest processed foods enjoyed over the past millennium. It came from the tropical tree called cocoa. This tree is native to South America, Central America and Mexico. The seeds of the cocoa tree are dried and fermented and finally grounded and liquefied. As a result of these processes, pure unsweetened chocolate is formed.

There are different kinds of chocolate. Each is classified according to its composition and color. Milk chocolate is the combination of sugar, cocoa butter and milk. It is considered not a true chocolate because of the absence of cocoa solids formed from the processes involved in production of pure chocolate. White chocolate can be consumed by animals. The addition of sugar and fats makes up the third kind of chocolate. Dark chocolate has high cocoa content and is believed to have health benefits by reducing the occurrence of heart attack. One example of dark chocolate is semisweet chocolate which is used in cooking recipes. Sometimes vanilla is added for a more pleasing aroma.

Garlic Meets Alaska Scallops in a Delicious Dish

When cooking seafood, it's important to find a flavor that compliments the flavor of your fish or shellfish without overpowering it. You don't want to eat a salmon with a pepper flavor that makes the fish taste different. You also don't want to cook scallops in a fashion that will take away from the delicious, rich flavor they come with naturally. Pairing garlic with your Alaska scallops will add flavor without taking away from the already delicious flavor, and the recipe is easy to prepare.

The items you will need for your garlic scallops includes: one pound of Alaska scallops, one medium-sized and finely diced onion, about five cloves of chopped or crushed garlic, one tablespoon of olive oil, half a cup of pouring cream, four spring onions sliced on an angle, a splash of white wine and one tablespoon of finely chopped chives.

Delicious

Start by frying the garlic and onion in a hot pan with oil for about two minutes on medium heat. You do not want to allow the onion to change colors, but you do want it to soak in the garlic and oil. Add the Alaska scallops to the onion and oil and lightly cook each side for 20 seconds. Remove the scallops from the pan after you have cooked each side for 20 seconds. Turn the heat up from medium to medium high and add a splash of white wine. Let the wine reduce for about one minute and then add the pouring cream and reduce until your sauce is think enough to coat the pan.

Once your sauce is thick enough, add the scallops and spring onions to the sauce and stir it around for about one minute. The final step before eating is to place your delicious garlic Alaska scallops on some rice pilaf, pour the sauce over the dish and add a little garnish with the chives. You'll be able to serve about four to six people with the above measurements and quantities - depending on how hungry everyone is. Though you will probably find that everyone wants seconds of your delicious, flavorful garlic Alaska scallops.

Snickerdoodle Cookie Recipe - How to Make Snickerdoodles Without Cream of Tartar

Cream of tartar is an age old ingredient, found in just about any Snickerdoodle recipe. The common household baker rarely knows what cream of tartar is, let alone has this acidic based salt in their spice cupboard. Suffice it to say you can still enjoy delicious Snickerdoodles even though you may not have any on hand. You may even find you like the end results better with a simple common substitution.

Cream of tartar is commonly used in conjunction with baking soda when making Snickerdoodle cookies. Baking soda is the leavening agent while cream of tartar has no leavening qualities at all. It is the acidic counterpart that allows the baking soda to react and not leave a bitter taste in the cookie after it is baked. Baking soda must always be used with an acid based food such as buttermilk, yogurt, fruits, and cream of tartar. A Snickerdoodle recipe usually calls for two parts cream of tartar to one part baking soda. However, in the absence of cream of tartar you can replace this two to one formula with baking powder.

Delicious Cookie Recipes

Baking powder is also a leavening agent. It produces a gas during the baking process that raises the baked good in the oven. Baking powder makes a good substitution in this recipe because it is conveniently made of baking soda, cornstarch, and cream of tartar. If you have baking powder in your cupboard, then you have the cream of tartar necessary to make Snickerdoodles. However, although you can substitute baking powder in your Snickerdoodle recipe, you may arrive at a different finished result. It will taste every bit as good as you want it too, you will find that it is a thicker cookie that has spread less in the oven during the baking period. Since most people find this favorable in a cookie then it should not be a problem. If you have always enjoyed thinner, crispier Snickerdoodles, then stick with the original formula that uses cream of tartar. Whether you are using the baking soda cream of tartar combination or the baking powder alone, you will make a crackled, spicy, sweet treat enjoyed by all.

Try these Snickerdoodle cookie recipes: one with cream of tartar and one without to see which one you prefer the most.

Fine Desserts

When it comes to great food one of the most overlooked aspect of the meal always seems to be, the fine desserts. There are so many wonderful sweets that can close a fantastic meal that it will be very difficult for you to actually settle on just one. The problem with this is that many of these sweets are just that, sweet. With divine cakes and decadent tarts and torts available on the back page of a fine menu, people often find themselves peeking prematurely just so they can get a sense of what is in store.

Like A Sugar Kiss

Delicious Cookie

Fine desserts are like a sugar kiss, and they are made to tease and tempt your senses and love for all things yummy. Finding the right dessert for you may be a challenge, as there are just so many different types of treat that can be served at one time. Many restaurants today will have seasonal desserts which are sold at select times of the year. These are the best of the best, and knowing that they are only around for a brief time makes them far more necessary to be sampled. Good food can be found in many places today, yet it is the fine sweets at the end of this meal that are the most difficult for you to find. Not every restaurant is lucky enough to have their own pastry chef, so for this reason the ones that do have a distinct advantage.

Never At Home

If it is fine desserts that you are after, then you will need to keep in mind that they will not be found at home. You are going to need to go out, in order to taste what the great dessert chefs are offering for the evening. This is really nothing to someone that enjoys a good night out, and is always looking for the next big taste to come along. Don't get me wrong here, I'm not saying Christmas is just about food, the festive season is a great time for bringing families together and celebrating, but hey, like I said, I really do like the food.

Traditions Of A Recipe For Christmas

Delicious Cookie Recipes

This goes way back and to most families is the main focal point of their Christmas. Waiting to see what that big juicy Turkey will taste like and how it will be presented on the table. Of course there are many other meals for Christmas with a lot of these recipes having been passed through generations of families. It's kind of eerie when we think of this; I mean just think, our ancestors were tucking into the same mince pie that we are eating now at our Christmas Soirée. Well, perhaps not the 'same' mince pie but certainly the same recipe perhaps.

Some Ideas For A Christmas Recipe

I think the fun recipes are desserts as these are a pleasure to create and everybody always loves a lovely Christmas pudding. The Christmas fruitcake is also a great choice and isn't too difficult to prepare.

A Simple Fruit Cake Recipe

Why not try this very easy fruit cake which doesn't take a great deal of time to prepare and tastes absolutely mouth watering. This is traditional recipe for Christmas time and will always be well received by your guests. To make this you will need to compile the following ingredients: -

One and a half cups of raisins

Three cups of sifted flour

One and a half cups of shredded dates

One cup of crushed nuts

Two cups of water that has been boiled

5 tablespoons of standard vegetable oil

One teaspoon of baking soda

Two cups of sugar

Two teaspoons each of cloves and cinnamon and add one teaspoon of salt.

Preparation

Now that we have all the ingredients measured as above, simply find a clear and clean surface and then proceed to lay them out. Take the sugar together with the vegetable oil and your raisins and place these in a pot and simmer for approximately twenty minutes or so. Make sure you allow the mix to cool down for approx 5 minutes. During this time the soda, salt and pour cloves can be mixed together in a sifting fashion and then incorporated onto the now cooled down mix. Now get your nuts and start stirring the designated amount into complete mix. An old trick to stop the nuts from sinking is to also add some flour at the same time of adding the nuts. Simply then pour the finished mix into pan which has been pre-greased and bake in your oven at three hundred and twenty degrees for approximately one and a half hours. Set your timer for this and additionally check from time to time.

Making a delicious Fruit cake is just one out of many many mouth watering Christmas recipes that you can make. If you browse the internet you will find all sorts of ideas that you can put to use. Whether you refer to a cookbook or browse the web in general, with a little digging and delving you are bound to find the Christmas recipe that is just right for you and your family.

How to Make Delicious Cheese Garlic Bread

One of the most important things about making delicious and fresh garlic bread is finding the ingredients. I just go to my local grocery store. No need to waste time and money going to specialty shops, unless you really need something authentic or you know about a local place with great fresh bread. It's up to you of course, just remember that the bread is usually a side dish, so you don't need to spend a lot to make it great.

The first thing you'll need is a loaf of bread. I like French or Italian bread. White or wheat are tasty, and some grocery stores have bread with roasted garlic already inside and other varieties. Try something new next time. I usually slice off as much as I need and wrap up the rest for later. Then slice it in half so there's a top and bottom side. Lightly rub or drizzle olive oil or butter on open side of each slice.

Delicious

Next we need a fresh bulb of garlic. Well, fresh is relative here because it can sit a while and still be good. You'll probably only need a few cloves from the bulb chopped up into very small pieces to sprinkle on each piece before putting on the cheese.

At this point I like to sprinkle on some Italian Seasonings. You can find it at the store under the same name, it's a variety of spices that go well on garlic bread. Otherwise you can use parsley, oregano, or any other spices that would go with Italian foods.

Now we need cheese. Mozzarella is best, I like pre-shredded from the store. You can also add grated Parmesan or Romano on top for a twist.

Place it in the oven on a cookie sheet for 9-12 minutes at 350 F, or until the cheese and crust is the desired level of golden brown. Cool several minutes before eating to avoid burns.

Delicious Shapes - Chocolate Molds

A chocolate mold is a cavity, usually made of plastic, used for forming chocolates in desired shapes. A chocolate mold can usually withstand up to 160 degrees F of heat so should be used with low-heat melting chocolate. Some molds are made from rubber or silicone, while other chocolate molds are made from metal.

Most chocolate molds produce one sided chocolates which are flat on one side and formed on the other. Some manufacturers provide three dimensional molds that create a fully shaped chocolate. This is usually achieved when two molds are used then joined together in a semi-hardened state. A newer solution to achieving round shaped chocolates is to use a magnetic chocolate mold. This allows the melted chocolate to be placed inside the sphere with the magnets holding the mold together until it hardens in the desired shape.

Delicious

Dark chocolate, milk chocolate, and white chocolate can all be used in a chocolate mold. Using small pieces of chocolate is the preferred way of melting the chocolate. Larger pieces of chocolate will require higher heat to achieve the melting stage. At higher heats the chocolate may burn or melt the chocolate mold. To avoid this, using small-shaped circles of chocolate called pastilles requires a lower heat, as the pieces are relatively small and uniform in size. This allows for an even melting time and makes it easier to pour into the chocolate mold.

A chocolate mold can be used for different types of chocolate. Most stores that sell chocolate molds will indicate what chocolate is the best for each different mold option. Some molds can withstand higher heats and can be used for harder chocolate, which requires more heat to melt it. Colors and flavors can be added to the chocolate in the melted stage to enhance the finished products. White chocolate will help to achieve the most pastel look to the chocolate if a subtle color is desired. For dark and deeper colors, darker chocolate can be used to reach the richer hues.

A suggested way to measure the required amount of chocolate needed for filling a chocolate mold is to measure the cavities or places in the mold for the chocolate with water. Pouring the water into the shapes, then into a measuring cup will indicate how much chocolate is needed as water measures almost the same as chocolate.

When cleaning a chocolate mold, soap should not be used as it can alter the taste of the next batch of chocolate, since the soap can penetrate into the plastic mold. Hot water should be used to remove any excess chocolate from the mold. If the chocolate comes out cleanly form the chocolate mold, leaving the mold with the remaining cocoa butter will aid in the removal of the following batches of chocolates made in the mold. All in all, a chocolate mold is a very versatile piece of equipment and can provide chocolates made into many desired shapes for different themes or occasions.
